I just completed the 16 days EBC trek and it has been an experience of a lifetime!
Nepal Hiking Team really made it as smooth as possible, so I was... read more able to focus on the experience itself. Our guide Gokarna and assistant porter Ram was constanly checking in with us, making sure to accomodate everyone’s needs and even reorganize the original schedule when needed. Mr. Ganga was also personally there to meet me in the beginning and say goodbye in the end of the trip and he also made sure everything was 100% perfect.
Even though I arrived alone in Kathmandu, Nepal Hiking Team was there to pick me up at the airport and they coordinated everything afterwards.
Our group was fantastic and I left the trek with having made new friends for sure

⛰ DR’s Gokyo Ri & Renjo Pass Big Adventure ? - During the worst of the Pandemic lockdown, I found the best remedy (for me) was to be out in nature and improving my cardio/endurance. But after making the same... read more circuit, time after time, I found I needed a more ‘lofty’ objective to strive for. A goal. That’s when I set my sights on the Himalayas. I had been to Nepal twice. Once for charity work after the 2015 earthquake and once to visit Chitwan National Park. I had always wanted to return for a major hiking trek. Unfortunately, the Pandemic delayed my plans. Ganga of the Nepal Hiking Team changed all that. Ganga patiently stayed in touch, responding in a timely manner, helping me in every step of the planning for my high altitude expedition. He took into account my demanding criteria. Namely, that I wanted to:
- avoid the more crowded routes (EBC)
- Focus on seeing more flora & fauna
- Pass through rustic villages, visit monasteries
- Witness changes in terrain and elevation
- Understand the Sherpa and Tibetan cultures
- And all times, safety first
All this was achieved and more! Ganga and his team fulfilled my ✨wishlist✨ and threw in additional surprises (high suspension bridges, yaks, musk deer, Himalayan goral and what I believe was small groups of Himalayan tahrs.
I also could not have achieved this without my competent, experienced, knowledgeable guide and porter. Sincere thanks to Santosh Sapkota and ‘Man’. Santosh always managed our pace and speed, knowing full well that the last 2 hours of an 8 or 10 hour trek/climb would be the most demanding. Always allowing me to keep something in reserve for when I needed it or knowing when was a good time to take a ‘breather’. He also knew the entire route, every turn and when there would be fascinating diversions. What can I say about Man (my porter)? He was equally knowledgeable, absolutely tireless, sure footed and always a happy, cheerful disposition . What, if anything, would I change? Because everything (particularly Lukla flights, both in and out) went smoothly, I was left with +3 buffer days at the end. I would have liked to have stayed at high altitude - visit or linger at another village. Again, to Ganga’s credit, he was able to arrange a last minute tour of discovery for me of the old town Kathmandu & Bhaktapur with a highly knowledgeable and congenial guide (who’s name escapes me). Many thanks to Ganga, Santosh & Man for creating an adventure of a lifetime - I am already trying to determine my next expedition with Nepal Hiking Team Don

Amazing and Rewarding Experience! - This trip was one of our friend's dream idea, but it quickly became mine as well! This was one of the most challenging, beautiful and rewarding experiences I've had in... read more recent times. All thanks to the Nepal Hiking Team who have curated an experience like no other. The company chief Ganga was very attentive and responsive in getting "us off the ground". The guides Arjun and Gokul who I highly recommend were brilliant in all aspects. Highly knowledgeable, attentive, caring, motivating and fun at all times throughout the trek. It's due to them my friends and I have had a wholesome trekking experience of the Everest Base Camp. I highly recommend The Nepal Hiking Team and will be sure to use them again hopefully in the near future.

Wow where to start... what an amazing experience. I'm a young girl from Miami and I was scared of going because I never trekked in my life and I'm 110... read more lbs and I usually don't workout so I was thinking I was not going to be able to complete the trek, I was completely wrong. My guide Narayan was amazing and adapted the itinerary to make me succeed, he was always looking out for me and even carried my backpack many times when I was exhausted . Narayan and the porter also carried fruit for me the whole trek and cut it and serve me everyday which was very nice since due to the weather fruits and vegetables in Lantang Valley are a luxury.
Ganga was amazing too, he organized everything for me. From hotel, trek, transportation and I even left my luggage with them when I went to visit Pokhara.
The one thing I would say us westerners need to know is that the food options are limited in such a remote area. The weather is so cold not much grows there so they have to carry everything up the mountains. Meat is rare to find while trekking. You will mostly eat eggs, rice, boiled vegetables, noodles...my suggestion is to carry dry meat/jerky with you.
The sunrises were amazing, if you can wake up early to see it, you won't regret it. Waking up is hard since you will be exhausted but so worth it.
We saw lots of animals like yaks, horses, Rhesus monkey, eagles, donkey, and we got lucky and saw deer too. The Tamang tribe are very nice people too and make you feel comfortable.
To summarize I would say its HARD for someone inexperienced like me but totally doable, and you will feel very good about yourself and your capabilities once you complete it.
I went in February 2021 and the weather was really cold but sunny, no rain .
Also, all the porters carrying heavy weights up the mountain amazed me everyday. It is unbelievable what the human body can do. I would say some of them easily carry 50kgs.
And yes Nepal is open for trekkers. You can get visa on arrival if your tour agency gets recommendation letter in advance. Go out there and experience other cultures !

Once in a life time experience - Outstanding service - I believe Nepal Hiking Team is one of the best-value choice for your trek in Nepal. I did EBC trek in Dec 2022 and Nepal Hiking Team provided amazing service... read more from the begining to the end.
Ganga and operation team responded quickly and detailed to every inquiry to make sure I would have a smooth experience in Nepal. The hotel in Kathmandu and city tour was very nice. You cannot expect 5-stars facility on the trek, but Nepal Hikking Team tried their best to provide us with the best possible guesthouses and meals. Their service exceeded my expectation.
Dhurba Itani was our great guide and an amazing team leader. He was very careful, experienced and responsible. His positive energy and support helped us all complete the trek. He always made sure that our stays were comfortable and our meals were well-prepare. Dhurba was also very quick and experienced in handling complex situations. He managed to get the whole group safely back to Kathmandu from Lukla by helicopter when the weather was not nice.
I'm happy that I chose Nepal Hikking Team for my amazing EBC trek.
